The course runs out and back on a clay road, so you pass oncoming runners the whole way. It is hilly and unpaved, the kind of surface that changes with the weather, and the hills come at you more than once on the longer distance. Runners describe it as a genuine workout, not a casual jog.
Packet pickup the afternoon before is at a running shop in Clermont, and race-morning pickup opens early at the start line and closes before the gun. Parking directions have moved from previous years, so the map the organizers send out race week is worth a look before you leave home.
