About the Run Baby Run 5K Benefiting NICU Babies

The course runs on the Legacy Trail through Coldstream Park in northwest Lexington, paved and flat the whole way. It is the kind of morning that draws families as much as runners, partly because there is a short kids' dash alongside the main race. Free race photos are taken on course, which is a nice touch you don't always see at smaller events.

Packet pickup runs race morning at Coldstream Park, with a window that closes before the start. If the event grows enough to warrant a day-before option, the organizers say they will announce it.

Common Questions About the Run Baby Run 5K Benefiting NICU Babies

Will I finish last at the Run Baby Run 5K Benefiting NICU Babies?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:12, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:35, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run Baby Run 5K Benefiting NICU Babies a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (103 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run Baby Run 5K Benefiting NICU Babies?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 19:27 while the median finisher took 33:12. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
