About the Run Around the Square
The course splits its time between neighborhood streets and Frick Park's cross-country trails, finishing down in Fern Hollow. The first stretch runs through Regent Square, where the sidewalks tend to fill with neighbors cheering from their stoops. The back portion goes off-road, so expect roots and trail surface underfoot, not pavement.
Both races start outside a charter school where Henrietta and Milton meet. Packet pickup runs the evening before at the Wilkins School Community Center in Swissvale, with morning pickup available before the gun. Leashed dogs are welcome in the shorter distance, though the USATF-sanctioned route keeps it a dogs-and-strollers-free zone.
