About the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5K

The course runs through North Ponds Park, also known as Charles E. Sexton Park, on the north side of Webster. Expect a park path underfoot, likely flat and wooded in the way that old county parks tend to be. The costume angle is real here: ugly sweaters are the point, and there is an ugly sweater contest alongside the usual age group awards.

Parking is at the park itself, and portable restrooms will be on-site. After the race, the party moves to a local pub in Webster, where there are food and drink specials. The race benefits Friends of Webster Park.

Common Questions About the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5K

Will I finish last at the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:29, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:23, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (136 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Rochester Ugly Sweater 5K?

The 5K winner ran 18:10 while the median finisher took 34:29. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
