About the RiverBOO! Park 5K
The course winds through Riverview Park on Pittsburgh's Northside, looping past the Allegheny Observatory before turning back toward the finish. What makes this one stick in the memory is the final stretch, which climbs almost continuously. This is not a course you coast to the end of. The sunset start time means you are running as the light drops, and the tree cover in the park adds to that.
There are road closures in the park during the fall remediation period on Riverview Avenue, so the suggested entry is from the Mairdale Street and Riverview Drive side of the park. Worth knowing before you navigate over. A costume contest for younger kids runs alongside the race, and community partners bring seasonal activities to the finish area.
