About the RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run

The course runs through Seneca Park on paved surfaces, so it is smooth underfoot and open to strollers and wheels as well as runners. The race is tied to a local hearing and speech nonprofit, and the crowd reflects that: families, kids in superhero costumes, and people moving at every pace. It has the feel of a cause-driven neighborhood gathering more than a timed event.

Netsin's brings ice cream to the finish, and there is a kids' activity zone in the park. Both make the post-race stretch worth hanging around for.

Common Questions About the RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run

Will I finish last at the RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:36, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:04:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (84 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the RHSC's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 22:43 while the median finisher took 38:36. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
