Mcallen, TX
This is a stroke-awareness race put on by Rio Grande Regional Hospital, so the cause is front and center rather than in the background. The spooky theme runs through the event, and families show up in force. The surrounding community health mission gives the morning a purposeful feel that a standard road race does not always have.
