About the Red Shoe Run & Walk 5K
The course starts and finishes at Lower City Park, which keeps things simple and means the crowd at the end is right where you left it. Strollers and leashed dogs are both welcome, so the field tends to look like a neighborhood out for a morning, not a starting corral sorting itself by pace.
Packet pickup happens at a sporting goods store in Coralville in the days before the race, which most people take advantage of to avoid the morning rush. After the race, there is a picnic lunch in the park, along with a kids run and an awards ceremony, so there is reason to hang around.
