The course runs along the Iowa River Corridor Trail inside City Park, which keeps things scenic and mostly flat. The race benefits the Food Bank of Iowa, and organizers also collect non-perishable food donations at the start. A shorter kids' race follows the main event, so families with little ones have something to look forward to after the finish.
