About the RED DEVIL DASH
The course runs on the Pike Township cross country grounds behind Eastbrook Elementary, so the terrain is the kind you find on a dedicated cross country layout: grass, natural footing, and a route shaped for racing rather than road running. There are a couple of distance options, making it a reasonable outing for runners at different points in their training.
The race is organized by a local student running group alongside a township wellness program, and it doubles as a community fundraiser. Students can enter by donating to a school food pantry, and there is a traveling trophy for the school that turns out in the greatest proportion. Post-race awards cover age groups as well as overall winners for both distances.
