About the Irvington Vampire Run

The course runs through the tree-lined streets of the Irvington neighborhood, passing genuinely old landmarks along the way, including a historic oak, a memorial center, and a circle park that anchors the surrounding blocks. The pavement is flat, the neighborhood is dense with old houses, and the whole thing wraps up near the same park where it started.

Packet pickup happens at a couple of points before race morning, with race-day pickup opening early at Irving Circle Park. Several nearby organizations sell parking spots in their lots, which helps since street parking fills up once the Halloween Street Fair gets going. The festival runs alongside the race, so the neighborhood is already busy and decorated by the time most runners finish.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2025 results, this is a decent-sized field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Irvington Vampire Run

Will I finish last at the Irvington Vampire Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:06, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:33, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Irvington Vampire Run a good first 5K?

A field of 700 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Irvington Vampire Run?

The 5K winner ran 17:33 while the median finisher took 39:06. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
