About the Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges!

The course winds through a coastal state park and the grounds of historic Fort Miles, starting and finishing at an American Legion post. It is trail terrain, and runners can choose to cover the distance on foot, by race-walk, or carrying a weighted pack. The surroundings are open parkland close to the water, and the race runs rain or shine.

Packet pickup the evening before is at the American Legion post, where there is live music and food while you collect your bib. Race-morning pickup opens near the starting line before the opening ceremony. After the race, local vendors and live bands fill out a post-race celebration that runs through the afternoon, and a walk-through military history exhibit is set up at the finish area.

Common Questions About the Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges!

Will I finish last at the Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges!?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:11:30, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:28:29, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges! a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (136 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Race4Warriors 5K, 10K & Half Marathon Challenges!?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:29:45 while the median finisher took 2:11:30. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
