About the Race to the Taste 5K

The course runs through Anastasia State Park and into the surrounding neighborhoods, following an out-and-back route that starts and finishes at the St. Augustine Amphitheater. The rock-and-roll theme means costumes are genuinely part of the culture here. Proceeds go to a local behavioral healthcare organization focused on addiction recovery.

Packet pickup happens the evening before the race at a behavioral healthcare office across town, with race-morning pickup also available at the amphitheater. After the race, the amphitheater backyard hosts live music and a food sampling event featuring signature dishes from local restaurants, with taste tickets available on site.

Common Questions About the Race to the Taste 5K

Will I finish last at the Race to the Taste 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 39:33, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:20, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Race to the Taste 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 260 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Race to the Taste 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:53 while the median finisher took 39:33. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
