About the Endless Summer 10K & 5K

Both distances run on sand at low tide inside Anastasia State Park, heading north along open oceanfront beach before turning back. There are no buildings in sight, just dunes, shorebirds, and the Atlantic. The final stretch comes off the sand onto a short paved section back to the finish.

The race starts near a beach shop directly on the ocean. Sand and uneven terrain are part of the deal, and the sun and humidity can be real factors even in late fall, so come prepared. Water stops are spread along the course.

Common Questions About the Endless Summer 10K & 5K

Will I finish last at the Endless Summer 10K & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 49:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:26:03, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Endless Summer 10K & 5K a good first 5K?

A field of 463 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Endless Summer 10K & 5K?

The 5K winner ran 19:56 while the median finisher took 49:56. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
