This race is a fundraiser for sarcoma research, part of a national series of events run by the Sarcoma Foundation of America. The Philadelphia edition draws a broad crowd, many of whom have a personal connection to the disease. The atmosphere reflects that, quieter and more purposeful than a typical road race morning.
