RACE FOR THE WARRIOR

Fort Wayne, IN

Opens Nov 12, 2026Annual since at least 2015

About the RACE FOR THE WARRIOR

The course runs on the actual runways at Fort Wayne International Airport, which makes for a flat, wide-open stretch unlike any road race in the area. The surface is smooth and the sightlines are long, so you can see what is ahead of you for a good while. The race supports a military family fund, and that mission is noticeable in the atmosphere.

Packet pickup is held the evening before at a Fleet Feet location, with race-morning pickup available at the event site as well. Gates open well before the start, leaving plenty of time to check in. Same-day registration is also an option if you decide late.

Common Questions About the RACE FOR THE WARRIOR

Will I finish last at the RACE FOR THE WARRIOR?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 32:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:14, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the RACE FOR THE WARRIOR a good first 5K?

A field of 259 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the RACE FOR THE WARRIOR?

The 5K winner ran 15:39 while the median finisher took 32:34. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
