About the Race for the Dome

The route runs through the area around the Astrodome, Houston's famous domed stadium, so the building itself is part of the scenery. The race draws people who care about preserving the structure, and plenty of them show up in vintage gear. Proceeds go to the Astrodome Conservancy, which works to secure a future for the old stadium.

There is a kids' fun run alongside the main road race, so families tend to make a morning of it. Post-race festivities are built around the Astrodome's birthday, with a celebratory atmosphere outside the dome after everyone finishes.
