About the Race for the Crown (5K & Medieval Mile)
The course runs through the grounds of the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly before the site opens to the public that day. Runners move through the village while the festival is still quiet, which gives the whole thing a different feeling than a road race. The terrain is what you would expect from a fairground, not pavement.
Packet pickup the day before is at a running store in Grand Blanc. Race-morning pickup opens at the front gate well before the start. Parking is included with registration, which matters at a venue where it is normally a separate charge. There are post-race refreshments and a festival ticket included, so most people stay and enjoy the grounds after.
