About the Promise 5K & Bensky's Race
The course runs through Robbins Island Regional Park and loops around Willmar Lake, so you get park trails alongside open water for most of the route. It is officially timed and part of a regional running series, which gives it a bit more structure than a typical charity run, though the cause behind it is clearly the draw.
After the race, there is pie at what the organizers call the Pie-K, along with updates from the charity's work in Haiti and Haitian-made artwork on display. It is a finish area worth sticking around for rather than heading straight to the car.
