About the Pride 5K Run/Walk
The course runs through Hawk Island, and the event is self-timed, so runners track their own pace with a watch or app. There is no chip or clock at the finish. The organizing club behind it is GAAY Sports, and the run benefits Point of Pride, a nonprofit focused on gender-affirming care for transgender people.
Food and drinks are waiting after the run as part of a fall gathering, and the crowd tends to be a mix of club members, friends, family, and allies. Optional donations at the event go toward covering those costs, with anything left over going to Point of Pride.
