About the PPTC Cherry Tree 10 Miler and Relay

The course runs through Prospect Park in Brooklyn, a few loops around the park's main road. The terrain is mostly paved and rolls gently, with one modest hill per loop that runners encounter each time around. You can run the full distance solo or split the loops with teammates as a relay, which draws a different crowd from the solo racers.

Packet pickup runs the couple of days before the race, with nothing to sort out on the morning itself beyond showing up. Post-race, there is hot chocolate, bagels, and fruit. Baggage check is available at the start. Mid-winter weather here swings wildly, so dress for anything from bright sun to snow flurries.

Common Questions About the PPTC Cherry Tree 10 Miler and Relay

Will I finish last at the PPTC Cherry Tree 10 Miler and Relay?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10 Miles field finished slower than 1:26:02, and the last recorded finisher came in around 2:42:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the PPTC Cherry Tree 10 Miler and Relay a good first 10 Miles?

A field of 486 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the PPTC Cherry Tree 10 Miler and Relay?

The 10 Miles winner ran 52:29 while the median finisher took 1:26:02. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
