About the Pittsburgh Public Schools Back-To-School 5K
The course starts outside Obama Academy of International Studies in Pittsburgh, a school-based setting that fits the back-to-school spirit of the event. All proceeds go to Bigger Than Sports, a nonprofit supporting student-athletes in the public school system through mentorship and education, so the cause is local and specific.
Packet pickup opens well before the start, and the post-race wellness social runs right after, with healthy food trucks, cold plunges, saunas, recovery stations, and local vendors on site. It is a full morning, not just the race itself.
