About the Picayune 10 Miler

The course mixes gravel roads, jeep tracks, single-track mountain bike trail, and stretches of sand. The surface keeps changing under your feet, which means you stay honest the whole way out. It is a heads-up course, not a zone-out one, and the narrower sections are part of why dogs are not permitted.

Free race photos with no watermarks are sent to participants after the finish, which is a genuinely nice touch. Prize money goes to overall and age group leaders, so there is real competition at the front.

Common Questions About the Picayune 10 Miler

Will I finish last at the Picayune 10 Miler?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10.25 Miles field finished slower than 1:48:35, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:05:54, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Picayune 10 Miler a good first 10.25 Miles?

A field of 263 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10.25 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Picayune 10 Miler?

The 10.25 Miles winner ran 1:03:31 while the median finisher took 1:48:35. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
