About the Pi Day 5k: a 3.14 Miler
The race takes place at Hawk Island Park, on an out-and-back course that starts and finishes near the Red Tail Shelter. The terrain is park trail, flat enough that runners of most abilities find their footing quickly. The event benefits a local science center's scholarship program, so there is a cause behind the timing chip.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a running store in Okemos, with morning pickup opening at the shelter well before the start. Parking is handled through registration. After the race, pie from a local pie company is on hand at the finish.

The Pi Day 5k: a 3.14 Miler has been held every year since at least 2022. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
