About the Nun Run for the Senior Class of 2027 and Other Projects

The Nun Run is a student service-learning project hosted at Loretto Academy, with proceeds going to local charities and an international mission. The course is a road race on school grounds, and there is also a virtual option for those who cannot run in person. Age group awards are spread across a wide range of divisions.

Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at the academy's foyer on the second floor, with a second window on race morning in the gym. Parking is in the lot behind the school, off Reynolds Street, and runners are asked to keep neighborhood driveways clear.

Common Questions About the Nun Run for the Senior Class of 2027 and Other Projects

Will I finish last at the Nun Run for the Senior Class of 2027 and Other Projects?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:10, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:06:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Nun Run for the Senior Class of 2027 and Other Projects a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (197 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Nun Run for the Senior Class of 2027 and Other Projects?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:31 while the median finisher took 33:10. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
