About the NM FAROLITO 5K
This one runs at dusk on the grounds of a polytechnic institute, the whole course lined with glowing farolitos, the sand-filled candle bags that are a New Mexico Christmas tradition. The route loops back close to where it started, so the finish area stays in sight for much of the race. It is an evening event, so expect cold air and a dark sky overhead.
Packet pickup is the evening before at a local running store, though out-of-town participants can pick up on race day at the venue during the hour or two before the start. Parking is on site; the organizers ask that you arrive early and stick to designated spaces. Port-a-potties are just east of the finish. Posole, hot chocolate, and other holiday foods are at the finish line.
