About the NFS Fall 5K Run and Family Walk
The course follows the Tomahawk Creek Trail, a paved path that runs through one of Overland Park's greener corridors. It is a trail race in the sense that you are away from traffic and among trees, but the surface is smooth underfoot. The chip-timed run shares the morning with a shorter family walk and a kids dash, so the start area has a range of ages milling around.
Packet pickup and registration open on race morning before the first wave goes off, so there is no separate day-before errand to run. Everything happens in one place, and the schedule staggers the different events across the morning rather than sending everyone out at once.
