About the Monster Dash 5K and Lil' Monsters Kids Run

The Monster Dash runs through South Creek Office Park, a course the organizers describe as fast. It is a Halloween race, so costumes are part of the morning. There is a costume contest before the gun goes off, which means the start area tends to fill up early with people worth looking at.

Packet pickup the evening before is at a local running store. Race-morning pickup opens at the start site. The kids run follows the main event, so families tend to stick around after the adult wave finishes.

Common Questions About the Monster Dash 5K and Lil' Monsters Kids Run

Will I finish last at the Monster Dash 5K and Lil' Monsters Kids Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 35:58, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:00, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Monster Dash 5K and Lil' Monsters Kids Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 558 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Monster Dash 5K and Lil' Monsters Kids Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 16:30 while the median finisher took 35:58. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
