About the NELA Bar Foundation - Race Judicata

The course runs through the north side of Monroe, weaving through Forsythe Park and the surrounding neighborhood. The terrain is gentle, and the route has a scenic, residential feel. Because the race falls on Halloween, costumes are encouraged, and awards go to the best-dressed runners alongside the usual age-group recognition.

Packet pickup is the evening before at Fleet Feet Monroe on Forsythe Avenue, with race-morning pickup also available. Snacks are on hand before and after the race, and water is out on the course. The start is at Forsythe Park on Sycamore Street, so parking in that area is your best bet.

Common Questions About the NELA Bar Foundation - Race Judicata

Will I finish last at the NELA Bar Foundation - Race Judicata?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 48:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the NELA Bar Foundation - Race Judicata a good first 5K?

It is a small race (27 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the NELA Bar Foundation - Race Judicata?

The 5K winner ran 21:54 while the median finisher took 35:52. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
