About the NC Seafood Festival Twin Bridges 8k

The course starts on Pivers Island at a federal marine lab, crosses into Morehead City on one bridge, winds through the historic downtown streets, then turns back over a second bridge to finish on the causeway at Atlantic Beach. The two bridge crossings put you above open water, with coastal views in both directions.

Parking is at the causeway shopping center near the finish, and shuttles run from there to the start on Pivers Island before the gun goes off. If you get dropped off instead, plan to walk a stretch of road to reach the start. The point-to-point layout means your car is already waiting at the finish.

Common Questions About the NC Seafood Festival Twin Bridges 8k

Will I finish last at the NC Seafood Festival Twin Bridges 8k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 8K field finished slower than 50:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:42:55, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the NC Seafood Festival Twin Bridges 8k a good first 8K?

It is a small race (188 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 8K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the NC Seafood Festival Twin Bridges 8k?

The 8K winner ran 29:16 while the median finisher took 50:34. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
