About the Mother's Day 5k Run / Walk

The course starts downtown and winds through Ocala's Historic District before finishing at Citizens Circle, a public gathering space in the heart of the city. The route is mostly flat urban streets, with historic architecture along the way. It reads as a scenic morning run rather than a hard effort, and the finish area opens up into a plaza well suited to post-race lingering.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store, with race-morning pickup available on-site as well. After finishing, stick around Citizens Circle for live music and raffle drawings. Moms at the event receive a flower. Dogs are not permitted on the course, though leashed pets are welcome to watch from the sidelines.

Common Questions About the Mother's Day 5k Run / Walk

Will I finish last at the Mother's Day 5k Run / Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:15, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:07:47, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Mother's Day 5k Run / Walk a good first 3.1 Miles?

A field of 411 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Mother's Day 5k Run / Walk?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 15:47 while the median finisher took 38:15. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
