About the Monster Mash Dash 5K
The course winds through the Village of Pinehurst, a historic district with tree-lined streets that suit a costume run well. Costumes are encouraged, and quite a few runners show up in them. The race benefits Special Olympics Moore County, so the energy around it tends to feel purposeful.
Prizes go to the top costume entries as well as the usual age group and overall finishers, which gives the morning a slightly different shape than a straight race. Post-race, there is a treat bag at the finish.
