About the Monster Dash 5k & 10k

The Monster Dash runs through Savannah timed to Halloween, so costumes are part of the scene without being required. The course is described as scenic and energetic, and the event benefits Girls on the Run, so there is a cause running underneath the fun. A photo backdrop is set up for pictures along the way.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running shop, with race-morning pickup available before the start. Photos are included, and there are drinks on site.

Common Questions About the Monster Dash 5k & 10k

Will I finish last at the Monster Dash 5k & 10k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 39:49, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:41:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Monster Dash 5k & 10k a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (143 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Monster Dash 5k & 10k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:07 while the median finisher took 39:49. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
