About the Molten Monster Mash 2026

The course runs out and back through historic downtown Anniston, starting from the YMCA of Calhoun County. It is USATF-certified, so the distance is measured true. Costumes are encouraged, and there is a contest for the best ones, which gives the start line a different energy than most races.

A short kids' dash runs alongside the main event, kept entirely off roads with people posted throughout to keep things orderly. Proceeds from the race go toward youth programs at the local YMCA. The whole morning has the feel of a Halloween block party that happens to involve a certified course.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 24, 2026.

Common Questions About the Molten Monster Mash 2026

Will I finish last at the Molten Monster Mash 2026?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 29:54, and the last recorded finisher came in around 54:09, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Molten Monster Mash 2026 a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (56 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Molten Monster Mash 2026?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:38 while the median finisher took 29:54. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
