About the Dia de los Muertos 5K
This race runs through Album Park in El Paso as a kickoff to the KLAQ Halloween Parade, so the crowd is already in costume and the afternoon has a parade-day feel before anyone crosses the finish. Calavera face paint and Halloween costumes are both welcome, and runners can write a name on their bib to run in someone's memory.
The race starts and finishes at the park, and sticking around after means you are already in place for the parade that follows. Awards for top finishers and age groups are handed out during the parade ceremony, so the post-race gathering has a reason to linger.
