About the Mardi Gras 5k Prediction Run (Mobile, AL)
This one starts downtown, on a street across from a spot called Ice Box, and runs through the heart of Mobile on Joe Cain Day, which locals treat as the real soul of Carnival. The prediction format means the fastest finisher does not automatically win; the prize goes to whoever comes closest to their own predicted time, with no watches allowed if you want to be eligible for that award.
Packet pickup runs through the week before at Fleet Feet Mobile on Airport Boulevard, with race-morning pickup available at the start site. The costume contest and bead-tossing competition happen around the race, so expect a crowd that takes the Mardi Gras spirit as seriously as the run itself.
