About the Jailbreak 5K
The course starts and finishes at Mardi Gras Park on South Royal Street, looping past the county jail and several bail bond offices before returning. The roads through this stretch are flat and tree-covered, which keeps things comfortable. The jail-break theme is woven into the route itself rather than just the name.
Race-morning packet pickup and registration both open at the park before the start. After finishing, there is a photo op inside a mock jail cell, plus snacks and drinks at the finish area.
