About the Lions Run for Sight 5K

The course runs out and back through Masterson Station Park on paved roads, so the surface is smooth and the scenery stays consistent in both directions. Dogs on leashes are welcome, strollers too, and the race raises money for vision services, eyeglasses for students, and guide dog training in the area.

Packet pickup is offered the evening before at Fleet Feet Lexington, with race-morning pickup available at the park starting when registration opens. Coffee and doughnuts are at the finish, and the race is known for a long stretch of door prizes drawn after the run.

Common Questions About the Lions Run for Sight 5K

Will I finish last at the Lions Run for Sight 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 38:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:11:07, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lions Run for Sight 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (162 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lions Run for Sight 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 20:11 while the median finisher took 38:27. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
