About the Lilly Barrack Ladies Night 8k & One Medal 5K Run/ Walk

The course runs with views of the Sandia Mountains and the New Mexico sky, and the field tends to mix runners going after a personal best with those happy to chat the whole way. It is an all-women event, and the pace on course reflects that range without anyone making a fuss about it.

The after-party takes place at a large event hall and has food, drinks, and live music. Local women-owned businesses and artisans set up there as well. A photography crew is on-site during the race, and photo downloads are free for everyone who participates.

Common Questions About the Lilly Barrack Ladies Night 8k & One Medal 5K Run/ Walk

Will I finish last at the Lilly Barrack Ladies Night 8k & One Medal 5K Run/ Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 49:38, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:13:18, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lilly Barrack Ladies Night 8k & One Medal 5K Run/ Walk a good first race?

It is a small race (144 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lilly Barrack Ladies Night 8k & One Medal 5K Run/ Walk?

The race winner ran 18:22 while the median finisher took 49:38. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
