About the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk

The race starts and finishes on N. Madison St. in downtown Rockford, in front of the Trolley Station. Several distance options mean the field draws everything from competitive runners chasing cash prizes to families out for a walk on Independence Day. The course runs through downtown streets, and the whole event benefits Lifescape's community programs supporting older and disabled adults.

Packet pickup is at a Fleet Feet location in Rockford, with windows the two evenings before race day. There is no race-morning registration or pickup, so plan ahead. After the race, participants can walk over to the Downtown City Pavilion for a post-race pancake breakfast.

Common Questions About the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk

Will I finish last at the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk?

Almost certainly not. Half the 2 Miles field finished slower than 21:28, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:52, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk a good first 2 Miles?

A field of 281 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Lifescape 4th of July Classic Run/Walk?

The 2 Miles winner ran 10:37 while the median finisher took 21:28. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
