About the Liberty Ruck & 5k
The race runs near the engineering buildings on campus, with wide roads and flat ground. There are two distance options: a standard road race and a shorter ruck, where runners carry a weighted pack. The event raises money for a Veterans Day program and a veteran nonprofit. Participants are encouraged to wear military branch gear, and many do.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a United Way office in Ruston, with race-morning pickup also available at the start. After the race there are food trucks and music on site.
