About the KOSCIUSZKO FREEDOM RUN 5K
This race runs through C&O Canal National Historic Park at Great Falls, organized jointly by the Polish and Lithuanian embassies and a local running club. The setting is a historic canal corridor with natural scenery, and the event honors a figure who served in both the American Revolution and Polish uprisings. A shorter fun run for children runs alongside the main race.
The embassies bring a diplomatic flavor to the start area that you do not find at most local races. Post-race, there are prizes for top finishers. The park at Great Falls gives you a genuine natural backdrop rather than a parking lot or a road circuit, which sets the morning apart from the typical suburban race.
