About the Kiolbassa’s Sauerkraut Bend - The Wurst 5K Run in Texas
The course runs through the King William District, a historic neighborhood whose German roots are the whole point of this race. Streets are paved and flat, shaded by trees, with a stretch along the San Antonio Riverwalk. The name is a genuine local reference: the area was once called Sauerkraut Bend, and the race leans into that history without overexplaining it.
Parking is street parking or nearby pay lots, so arriving with time to spare helps. After finishing, the celebration moves to King William Park, where there is music, food, and Kiolbassa sausage with sauerkraut. A costume contest runs alongside the race, and Oktoberfest gear is very much encouraged.
