About the Kennekuk Road Runners - Wild Wild Wilderness
The course runs through Kickapoo State Recreation Area, heading east out of the park and into the woods. Most of it is proper trail, with steep climbs and descents, creek crossings, and bridges. It is the kind of terrain that asks for your attention. Wildlife sightings are common enough that the organizers mention deer by name.
Packet pickup happens race morning at the park's maintenance building, with registration open until shortly before the start. If you want to make a weekend of it, Kickapoo has campgrounds with tent and trailer sites, electrical hookups, and shower facilities on the property.
