About the Kennekuk Road Runners - Mountain Goat
The Mountain Goat is held at Kickapoo State Recreation Area, and the name tells you exactly what to expect. The course is mostly asphalt with a short stretch of paved accessible trail, and it is built around one hill. You choose how many times you want to climb it, with several distance options available. An aid station sits at the base of the hill, roughly mid-loop, each time through.
Packet pickup is on race morning before the start, and race-day registration is also available if you decide late. The post-race party is at a saloon near the park exit. The club runs a Grand Slam series, and this race is one of the qualifying events for that series-wide award.
