About the Kennekuk Road Runners - Lake Mingo
The course wraps around Lake Mingo, mostly on trail, with stretches of grassland and a little pavement mixed in. It crosses the earth dam and passes through deep woods where deer, wild turkeys, and great blue herons show up regularly. Expect hills, bridges, and marshy sections. Depending on the season, you may come back muddy, and if a bridge washes out, there may be a creek crossing in its place.
Bibs are handed out on race morning before the gun. Afterward, the post-race gathering is at the Hideaway Shelter in Kennekuk Cove County Park, where pulled pork, pulled chicken, and draft beer are waiting. The race is part of a series, and runners who complete all four events in the series earn a special award at the final race of the year.
