About the Members Only 5 Hours for the Cats & Dogs
This one is held at Kennekuk County Preserve, west of Danville, and the course centers on the Howl Loop and the Lake Mingo Trail. You can run a short loop or stay out on the trails for several hours. The setting is park land, wooded and natural, and the shelter brings animals along so you can run beside a dog or visit with cats between loops.
Profits go entirely to the Vermilion County Animal Shelter, and the organizers encourage runners to bring donations of pet food, kitty litter, collars, and similar supplies. After the longer event wraps up, there are burgers off the grill and potato salad. The shelter has animals on-site, and the race group covers the adoption fee for the first adoption of the day.
