About the Howl at the Moon - 5K, 10K, 10M, and Half Marathon
The course runs along the beach path at Alamitos Beach, hugging the shoreline out and back. It is an open path, so you share it with pedestrians and cyclists throughout, and the race organization asks everyone to stay right. The turning points are marked with chalk and flags, and there is a water station out at the pier before you head back.
Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at a local sporting goods store. On race morning, pickup opens near the start before the first wave goes off. The lot next to the beach charges by the hour, and street parking nearby is free. The finish line has water, sports drink, gels, and fruit snacks.
