The race starts and finishes at Bluffton Oyster Park on the waterfront, which gives the morning a distinct character even before the gun goes off. It runs on a holiday morning, so the field tends to be a mix of locals working off what is coming later and out-of-towners visiting family for the occasion.
Packet pickup the evening before is at a wine and spirits shop in town, which is a reasonable errand to pair with holiday preparations. Race-morning pickup is available at the start area for those who are already registered.
