About the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K

The course runs along the marina from behind the aquarium, winds through Shoreline Village, and pushes out along the jetty where the Queen Mary sits across the water. It is flat road the whole way, with open water on most sides and enough of a turnaround point that you know when the hard part is behind you.

Packet pickup is the day before at Sports Basement, which is the easier option. Race-morning pickup opens before the start. Paid parking is a short walk away in the aquarium's multi-level lot. There is a water station out on the jetty, and finish-line food is set up at the end.

Common Questions About the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K

Will I finish last at the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:30, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (180 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K?

The 5K winner ran 0:24 while the median finisher took 34:26. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.

Where can I train for the Heroes 4 Hearing 5K?

Join a local run club. Long Beach Run Club, Long Beach Running Club, Long Beach Frontrunners and others in Long Beach welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
